The transfer of traditional skills and crafts tends to be a generational thing. Usually it is a matter of one generation being taught by the preceding one. In the case of Denis Anderson however, there was a generational leap, as the was schooled in woodcarving and cabinetry by men who were old enough to be his grandfather. Fred Barrie, one of Australia’s finest furniture makers, and Frank Stanton, his head cabinetmaker of sixty years, passed on an enthusiasm and passion for making the finest furniture.
